Legacy of Spades
The Ace of Spades (dark form) from the U.S. is perhaps already a legendary name among Anthurium collectors, a plant that needs no introduction. According to Tezula, the chance of getting a “true dark” phenotype with that perfect black tone from self-seeds is estimated to be less than 5%.
After some time working with it, we’ve found this to be true, the rate of getting dark seedlings from AOS x self is indeed very low.
However, we were fortunate enough to discover something even more special: a hybrid batch that exceeds expectations. This is Ace of Spades (dark form) × Red Dark Phoenix.
You may have seen this cross name before. But this batch stands apart.
These plants retain the iconic leaf form and vein structure of the original Ace of Spades, minimally influenced by Red Dark Phoenix, but develop a perfect black tone, often darker than the mother itself. The leaf veins are deeply purple-black, flawless and striking.
Because of the special shape, color, and overall expression, we believe this selected batch deserves a name of its own: Legacy of Spades.
