King of spades

Anthurium King of Spades (HU) is a famous Indonesian hybrid from Haji Ulih, commonly abbreviated as KOS or HU. It is highly recognizable for its exceptionally thick leaves, among the thickest of veined or velvet-leaf Anthurium hybrids, and its distinctive, softly rounded form.

Our KOS parent was selected with particular care. Its most exceptional trait is the intense red venation, which remains visible even on mature leaves, something not found in every King of Spades specimen.

Because KOS is a complex hybrid, its offspring are not always consistent, and careful selection is essential. However, in our breeding experience, crosses involving KOS also seem to produce interesting mutations more often than many other Anthurium lines. This unpredictability is part of the magic of Anthurium breeding: one challenge may lead to an unexpected reward, and patience, time, and dedication can eventually reveal something truly special.
